The foundation junkie in me picked up one of the newest foundations at the drugstore. The Maybelline Dream Cushion Liquid Foundation is another great product, and what makes it even better is the fact that it is a cushion foundation! Cushion foundations are definitely all the rage right now in the states. This technology is nothing new, but it is new for us and everyone is loving it. Including me!
I am wearing this foundation in the image above. I picked up this foundation in December in the shade 55 - Caramel, this is a perfect match for me during the winter, I may have to pick up the next shade down once the summer arrives, but so far this shade is great. I do hope they release more shades in this range, currently there are only 6... (so annoying!) I have been wearing it on and off for almost a month now, so I think I have a pretty good idea about how much I'm loving this!
First off I want to say that I love the finish of this foundation. I have dry skin so I don't typically set my foundations unless their tacky or too dewy. I find that this foundation settles into the skin very nicely. They describe the foundation as luminous coverage for fresh-faced perfection. I don't find this foundation to be very luminous at all in my opinion. To me it gives off a nice satin finish, so those with oily skin may also enjoy this foundation. I will agree that you end up with a nice fresh look that is not too heavy on the skin. This foundation is very lightweight which I love!!
As far as coverage I would say it has medium coverage. It could be buildable, I use about 2 layers and I find that it gives a nice full coverage look without being overly cakey or heavy. That is one great thing about cushion foundations, because they are water based I find you can really build them up without looking crazy!
My overall thoughts on this foundation is that it is a really great, innovative product! Maybelline hands down is one of my favorite drug store brands, I think I own almost every foundation they've created. Every time I try an new foundation from them I always get quality for an amazing price. I have the absolute WORST trouble with finding foundations that won't look cakey (because of my dessert dry skin...lol) or settle into my smile lines (I guess I'm just too happy). This foundation, when paired with either a hydrating or smoothing primer does not emphasize my dry skin or settle into my smile lines.
This foundations retails for anywhere between $12.99-$15.99 depending on where you purchase. It is a little higher than most foundations you will find at the drug store. However, compared to high end cushion foundations like the Lancome Miracle Cushion which will run you about $47 you can't really beat the price! :)
So all in all, A+ to Maybelline for creating yet another foundation that I LOVE!
