Being the beauty lover that I am, I have managed to grow my beauty collection quite significantly over time. It does take some self control with little splurges here and there.
Let's be real though, if you're not a mega Youtube star getting PR on the daily it can be tempting to impulsively buy every little item that launches. Then again, just because someone else has 500 pairs of lashes doesn't mean you need it to. lol
Subscription boxes:
This is one of the easiest ways to grow your makeup collection. Subscription boxes are amazing ways to get great makeup products for a small portion of money. Full size boxes like Boxycharm or Glossybox typically value over 100 of dollars worth of products for only $21 a month. If that's not a sure fire way to get up to 5 new beauty products a month I don't know what is. That's 60 new items in your collection in 1 year!
Beauty Conferences:
Attending events like Beautycon and Gen Beauty have been the biggest ways that I have enhanced my makeup collection. I've attended Beautycon LA 2016, and GenBeauty 2016 in San Francisco. When I tell you I accumulated more makeup than I could wrap my head around I'm not joking! You get so many full size/sample products at these events it's almost unbelievable brands are giving this stuff away like its Halloween! lol Depending on when you get a ticket it can be pricey but knowing when these events are going to happen and getting a great ticket price its totally worth your money and you can grow your collection in the matter of hours!
Email Coupons (deluxe size offers):
Ulta and Sephora love sneaking those "free deluxe samples" in your emails at the most random times. I however, LOVE getting these! I have gotten some great free products just by going into the store and showing the email. How easy is that!! Let not forget the yearly birthday gift. Just by signing up for their free rewards program around your birthday you get 1 or 2 free products!
Mini Splurges (During Sales):
Now when I do go on my makeup splurges I try to strategically plan them around upcoming sales/ perks. Ulta's big 21 Day's of Beauty is one of the BEST times to splurge on your must haves, which occurs every Spring & Fall. You can get up to 50% off full size high end products. Also keep an eye out for buy one get one free/ buy one get one 50% off. More bang for your buck is always best!
Save for Luxury Items:
Every now and then there's a luxury item that catches our eye but $80 primer or foundation isn't always necessary at the drop of a dime. If it really is a luxury Georgio Armani or YSL product you're just dying to have, add it to your wishlist. Plan on putting away $5 a week or a small percentage of your check and save up. Let's be honest, these products aren't of DIRE NEED! It's usually an impulsive need to have something your favorite beauty blogger mentioned in their monthly favorites. By saving up for that big ticket item that gives you time to research and get to know that product. Who knows by the time you've saved up you may even realize you don't really want it anymore.
Trust me I know it isn't always easy nor is it necessary to have this huge luxurious makeup collection but if makeup is something your passionate about these tips are great ways to grow your collection without breaking the bank or overspending.
